The final race in the club Championship series was the final 5k on Lady Mary's Walk on November 2. Unfortunately for the leading contenders in the women's Championship, this came the day after the Glen Ogle 33 ultra which saw Nic, Wendy T, Kerry, Susan and Julia complete the 33 miles from Killin to Strathyre and back again. This obviously meant their legs were a wee bit weary for the 5k. Despite that, Nic, Wendy and Julia still managed to make it round the race route, albeit at a slightly slower pace than they might otherwise have managed.
For the men, Wattie finished his season in style with a fine run, finishing well ahead of the pack in 18 minutes dead. Next in was Nick G, in 19.17. We didn't have as many Juniors running as on previous occasions, but Lewis and Angus put on a fine show, with Lewis just failing to overhaul Nick over the last 100m, to finish in 19.19 - an excellent effort. Angus was next, in 20.20, comfortably ahead of Jim A in 21.02.
For the women, Cathy led the way to finish in 23.57, followed closely by Elaine M and Maddy.
As is becoming a tradition at this event, refreshments were provided by Frances and helpers, with very welcome warming soup. Many thanks to everyone who took part and who helped with the event, holding gates and pointing people in the right direction.
