Hardcore hillrunners and orienteers Will Manners and Roger Goddard had a fine weekend at the OMM - Original Mountain Marathon - in the hills above Tweedsmuir in the Scottish Borders.
Running on the A Course, Will and Roger finished Day 1 in 5th position, covering the demanding route in a time of 7.49.43, and then picked up time on the Sunday to finish in 4th position overall, a tantalisingly close 50 seconds behind the 3rd place pair.
The Day 1 route covered a distance of 32.5km with 2685m ascent, while Day 2 covered a distance of 27.1km and ascent of 2285m, to give a massive total of 59.6km and an ascent of 4970m (more than 3.5 times the height of Ben Nevis!) over the weekend.
Although they had the fastest Vets time by a very comfortable margin, the OMM applies age weighting to the Vets results, pushing Will and Roger into 3rd position in the Vets category.
