A big day out! Phil T, Iain T, Nicola and Julia set out at stupid o'clock from Milngavie on Saturday morning for the 53-mile ultra-marathon to Tyndrum. Most of the rest of the club were happy to follow their progress on the live tracking app, but credit to Susan S for the early morning taxi service.
All four runners managed a good steady pace over the first miles, but unfortunately a calf tweak on Conic Hill put paid to Phil's race, who is now focussing on the Strathearn Marathon. Nic and Julia were joined by Colin for one section of the race, and friends and family popped up along the route to offer support.
Iain was first Harrier in a very good time of 11.56.33. Julia and Nic ran together for the entire race to beat their target time to finish in 12.54.30. Julia was delighted to beat her 2015 time by a massive margin of 90 minutes!
At the very sharp end, the race was won by Donnie Campbell in the scarcely believable time of 6.51.06, setting a new course record, with a new women’s record also being set by Beth Pascall of Raidlight UK in a time of 7.52.55.
