20 or so Harriers plus dogs had a splendid day out in the Trossachs with the awayday run round Loch Venachar and lunch provided by the Brig o'Turk tearooms. The chosen route is a 12 mile circuit round the loch, but it's definitely a run of two parts - the first, in the south side of the loch is a lovely flat route through woodland along the shores of the loch. The second part of the route joins the Great Trossachs path and is harder work, with some stiff little inclines and a gradual climb to the highest point. Great views along Loch Venachar and beyond to Loch Achray and Loch Drunkie were the rewards for the hard work.
The area round the lochs is threaded with paths and trails, and will certainly bear further exploration. Many thanks to Phil and Liz Mestecky for arranging the day so successfully.
