A new event for 2016, the Glasgow Clyde Marathon takes an off-road route from Cambuslang to Dumbarton, making full use of the Clyde Walkway, cycle paths and parks.
Five Harriers got their entries in on time in a restricted field. First in was Wendy Taylor, in a terrific 3.35.06, in 5th position in the women's race and 2nd FV40. Wendy also wisely played her wildcard and joker and scored very good points to move to the top of the women's championship. Next in was hubby Paul in 3.38.59 in 42nd position (just ahead of former Harrier Allan Mooney). Nic was next in, with a time of 4.07.34, just pipping Kerry, in 4.08.06, with Susan following in 4.28.17.
Wendy's time of 3.35.06 is her third best marathon time, and she now holds all three best women's marathon times for the club.
Despite being mainly flat, the route was described as being tougher than expected, but is recommended for next year, for those keen on marathons.
