The weekend of June 4/5 saw the final running of the Highlander Mountain Marathon, a two-day event for pairs of runners, centred in Glen Cannich. The event is a bit unusual for mountain marathons, featuring a bar and ceilidh at the overnight stop on Saturday. In the 60km A Class, Will Manners and Andy Greaves finished day 1 in 23rd position, but improved their placing on day 2 to finish in 12.51.05, for 22nd overall and 6th vet team. In addition to the mere 60km distance, the route took in 3600m of ascent over the challenging terrain of the mountains surrounding Glen Cannich.
In the B class, featuring 50km distance and over 3000m ascent, husband-and-wife team Doug Flint and Cathy Tilbrook finished 7th vets team and 22nd overall, just 1 place ahead of Emily Greaves and Rhian Evans.
