Two Harriers made the trip to Braemar for the 26.5 mile Lairig Ghru race through Scotland's highest mountain pass to Aviemore. For Tony Wayte, this was an effort to improve on last year's performance, while for Iain Thomson, this was a continuation of a series of long hard demanding runs.
Unfortunately, things didn't go quite to plan for Tony, with cramp hitting at just the wrong time on the hardest part of the run up to the Pools of Dee, making the last 10 miles a thoroughly miserable and painful experience. Tony finally hobbled in to the finish in Aviemore in a time of 4.51.41. Iain put in a fine effort to finish in 5.23.43, to finish 2nd in the V60 category.
