The Pentland Skyline race is one of the classics of Scottish hill running, comprising a 16 mile circuit of the Pentland Hills just south of Edinburgh, with 6200 feet of ascent and some fairly brutal ups and downs.
This year's race was won by Kris Jones of Dark Peak Fell Runners, in a time of 2.15.52. The Harriers were represented this year by Iain Thomson.
In Iain's own words: "... the race had a lengthy delay because of parking problems due to the very large entry. After about an hour we did start although for us mortals down the field this meant a slow walk for about 25 min as the 300+ field sorted itself out on the narrow track. After that the rest was plain sailing on a fantastic day weather wise, well until my legs gave out on the last couple of hills. My unofficial time was 4:12:16 which was a bit quicker than my 4:20 target so pleased with that."
