Now a regular fixture on the Scottish running calendar, the Loch Ness Marathon and 10k attract runners from all over Scotland and beyond. Four Harriers were running this year, with Aaron Dawson setting a very good time of 3.08.41, to finish in 67th position in a field of nearly 2500. Next in was Andy Scott, in a time of 3.53.03. Much of Andy’s training is done on a treadmill onboard ship when he’s working offshore, so he was happy to running on solid ground for a change. Andy was running to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care, in memory of his mother Elizabeth Scott. To date, he has raised nearly £1500.
Next Harrier to finish was Julia Greenlees, in a time of 4.13.03, in preparation for the Glen Ogle 33 ultra marathon in November, with Colin Tipping completing the quartet in 5.14.29. Unfortunately, there is no MV70 category for Colin, but his continued participation in races is an inspiration to his clubmates. The men’s race was won by Mohammad Abu-Rezeq (Altrincham) in an excellent time of 2:20:52, with Jennifer Wetton of Central AC taking the women’s race in 2:47:03.
