Tony Wayte took a trip to Arisaig for the Road to the Isles half marathon, from Arisaig to Mallaig. In previous years, the race has only attracted fewer than 100 runners, but with great credit to the organisers, they've boosted the numbers, achieving well over 200 finishers in the half and a decent turnout in the accompanying 10k and 5k.
The race follows a very scenic coastal route for most of the distance, with some serious undulations. Saturday's running conditions were good, with a nice tailwind for most of the race. Race organisation was mostly very good, and post-race catering included a massive seafood paella!
Tony completed the race in 1.34.24, in 20th position overall and 4th MV50.
