While a goodly group of Harriers were enjoying the splendour of Glen Ogle and Glen Kendrum on the club awayday run, committed racing whippets Ben Murphy and Susan Sharp were dicing with the fast boys and girls at possibly Scotland's least scenic 10k, the Jim Dingwall memorial Round the Houses 10k in Grangemouth, run in the shadow of the oil refinery. It does, however, have the benefit of being flat as flat thing, and is a good race for fast times.
This year was no exception, with the race being won by Wayney Gebreselassie of Shettleston Harriers, following up his win last weekend at the Tom Scott 10, with an outstanding 30.57. The women's race was won by Fiona Brian, of Metro Aberdeen, in 35.49.
Ben Murphy finished in 37.35, in 89th position overall, improving his time from 2016 by 32 seconds. Susan Sharp finished in 52.40, improving her 2016 time by over 90 seconds, in 9th position in the FV35 category. Susan played one of her wildcards in the race, winning 7.19 performance points, to move her into 4th place in the women's championship.
