The Harriers were represented by three women and five men at the last of the East District League races at Broxburn. Cold but clear overhead but icy-dicey underfoot conditions along with some narrow twisty sections made for an entertaining event. In the women’s race Maddy Watson led our trio home in an excellent 30th place. Cathy Tilbrook and Kerry Sweeney ran strongly too to finish in 57th and 62nd respectively in a field of 95. For the men, Roger Goddard was first Harrier finisher in 70th position with Ben Murphy just 13 places behind. Following next was Phil Mestecky in 163rd position, with Mark Dillon in 222nd position and Iain Thomson in 248th with 267 runners in total.
Full race results are here.
In the Club Cross-Country Championship, Phil Mestecky leads the table on 71 points from 3 races. Next comes Iain Thomson on 67 having secured 3 bonus points for completing 4 events. Gordon Morrison is in third position with 61 points from 3 races with Mark D just 4 points behind. Roger Goddard has scored maximum points in both his races, so even though he is currently in last position, he could overhaul everyone if he picks up 25 at the National Championships in Falkirk in February.
For the women, it’s a two-horse race between Maddy Watson and Kerry Sweeney. Maddy has finished as first Harrier in the 3 races she has completed which gives her 75 points. Kerry has raced in 4 events so picks up 3 bonus points to add to her haul of 73 points to put her one point ahead before Falkirk.
