Strathearn Harriers - New Year's Day Run 2014

National Masters Cross Country Championships

Sunday, January 29, 2017

Saturday saw a contingent head to Dundee for the National Masters Cross Country Championship for runners aged over 40. This event attracts some of the best runners in Scotland and competition in the team events is particularly stiff. In the team event, the men’s V50 team of Will Manners, Patrick O’Kane and Wattie Mackay repeated their 2016 success to take an excellent second position.

Roger Goddard (MV40) was first Harrier home in 44th position overall. Will Manners (MV50) outsprinted Patrick O’Kane (MV50) in a frantic finish to finish in 55th overall and 57th overall positions. Wattie Mackay (MV50) followed in 99th position, with Gary Brock (MV45) and Gordon Morrison (MV60) completing the MV40-60 racers. In the MV65 category, Iain Thomson finished a very good 11th.
