The Black Rock 5 is a bit of an oddity for a Scottish race, in that it depends on the state of tide. It's run across the sands off Kinghorn in Fife, out into the Firth of Forth to round the Black Rocks before heading back into town. As the name suggests, it's about 5 miles in distance, and apart from the final ascent into town, it's obviously quite flat. It's a very popular race with over 1000 entrants, and sells out quickly.
Nicola Watson and Lauren Fairweather made the trip for the 2017 race and ran together, finishing in a time of 38.52, in 558th and 559th positions. The race was won by Cameron Milne of Central AC in a time of 22.40, and the women's race was won by Kirstian MacRuary of Corstorphine AAC in 27.26.
