Eight Harriers made the short trip to Perth for the Kinnoull Hill race. This is an established fixture in the club championship. The race is a short sharp 4 mile hill race on Kinnoull Hill, organised by Perth Strathtay Harriers.Weather conditions were fine, with warm sun, and the route was very dry underfoot. Thankfully, no Harriers got lost this year.
First Harrier home, improving on his 2016 time by a minute, was Aaron Dawson in a time of 29.10 in 16th position. Wattie Mackay made a welcome return to racing after a long lay-off due to injury to finish in 30.24, in 24th overall position, and 2nd MV50.
Performance of the day came from Greta Dargie in her debut for the club, who ran a superb race to finish 5th woman, and 3rd Senior Woman, in a fine time of 34.27. Other club runners were Tony Wayte (35.03), Andrew Scott, running despite his aversion to hills (37.21), Iain Thomson (38.52), Nicola Watson, in preparation (!) for the Stirling Marathon (43.01) and Julia Greenlees (43.33).
The race was won by Tristan Rees of Fife AC in a time of 25.28, and the women's race was won by Nicola Roder in 31.17.
