More fine Harriers action at the fifth race of the club championship series at the Loch Leven half marathon, with Ben Murphy taking a whopping 4 minutes off his time from last year to finish in 9th position in a terrific time of 1.22.49. Ben's performance moves him to 5th place in the Scottish Under-23 half marathon rankings for 2107. In his 100th race for the club, Tony Wayte was next in, in 1.34.16, followed by Jim Alexander in 1.37.56, Andy Scott in 1.43.09, and Graeme Aitken in 2.07.01.
The race results move Tony to the top of the championship table (but only because he's run more championship races than anyone else), followed by Ben, Andy Gallagher and Andy Scott.
The race was notable for the number of runners wearing buffs, in anticipation of the swarms of midges that featured on the previous day's BBC news, but fortunately, weather conditions kept the wee beasties at bay and the race was run in fine running conditions, and was, as always, very well organised by Kinross Road Runners. The race was won by Iain Whitaker of Edinburgh AC in a time of 1.14.55.
