Colin Tipping and Beth Fotheringham were running the Loch Ness 10k with Beth’s husband Charlie, in Charlie’s first (and possibly only!) 10k. They were raising money for Macmillan cancer care, who gave Charlie terrific support three years when he was recovering from surgery for bowel cancer. The whole story dates back to Colin’s first Edinburgh marathon, when Charlie ran the last leg of the Edinburgh marathon relay and ran with Colin to get them both to the finishing line. Last Sunday was Colin’s opportunity to return the favour. For what it’s worth, Charlie and Colin finished in 1:14 and Beth ran ahead in the last few hundred yards to finish ahead to get some photos in finish in 1:13, but this one wasn’t really about times.
