Just two takers this time for the Seniors at the National Cross-country championships, with Iain Thomson finishing in 54.21, not far ahead of Gordon Morrison in 54.49.
As befits the National championships, some of the best athletes in Scotland were performing, with the men’s race being won by Kristian Jones of Dundee Hawkhill Harriers in 33.05 for the 10k race.
Also running in the men’s race was Ben Murphy running for Edinburgh University finishing in 41.22, and in the women’s race, Maddy Watson was running with her Strathclyde Uni vest, finishing in 65th place in a time of 46.19.
The women’s race was won by Scotland international Mhairi Maclennan in a time of 37.49. And of course, proud parent time for the Sweeneys, who saw former Harrier Junior Sol Sweeney win the under-20 race by a very convincing margin of 21 seconds in a time of 24.34 for the 8k race.
