A smaller-than-usual Harriers contingent made their way to Gartmorn for the Championship opener. Top honours go to Maddy Watson, revelling in the muddy conditions, to finish 22nd overall and 3rd woman, in an excellent 42.44. Next in for the Harriers was Andy Gallagher in 44.15, not far ahead of Richard Collingwood in 45.09, with Andrew Brown in 45.56. Andrew is training hard for the London Marathon next month, and his winter training is paying off, with his Gartmorn time this year 5 minutes better than the same race last year.
Next in was Gordon Morrison in 47.02, with Lauren Fairweather finishing in 46.46, taking nearly 3 minutes off her time from last year.
And in the Juniors race, Harriers Juniors had a successful outing, with Duthac Mardon taking the victory, ahead of James Grant in 2nd place, and an excellent 2nd place in the girl’s race for Anna, and strong runs for Jack, Andrew, Alex, Elspeth, Ryan, Tash and Olivia.
