Eight Harriers made the easy trip to Stirling for Central AC’s 10k race, this year hosting the Scottish 10k road race championships. First Harrier home in an excellent time of 36.16 was Wattie Mackay (3rd MV50), closely followed by Ben Murphy (37.03), and Roger Goddard, preparing for the Chicago Marathon (37.20). Setting new pbs were Andy Aitken (40.23) and Maddy Watson (41.48). Tony Wayte ran his fastest 10k in three years with 42.20, with Iain Thomson next in 46.38 and Gordon Morrison in 47.54, and Andrew Brown, on the way back after a long-running injury with 48.42.
Needless to say, as a Scottish championship race, the leading times were quite speedy, with Kristian Jones winning the men’s race in 29.56, and Fionnula Ross winning the women’s race in 34.05.

Championship points were hard to come by at Stirling, but in the women’s championship, Maddy sneaks ahead of Lauren by a margin of just over a point, while positions are unchanged in the men’s championship, with Wattie holding a comfortable lead, and Ben continuing his late move – but has he left it too late?
