02 May 2016Andy Aitken kicked off his summer of Hebridean half marathons with the Tiree half marathon, completing the race in 1.36.49, to finish in 20th position.
24 April 2016What more can you ask for - new club record, a pb and £1800 for your favoured charity? All in a day's running for Wendy Taylor at the London Marathon. Wendy's new club record is an excellent time of 3.28.44. Husband Paul was hampered over the closing stages with a calf injury, but still finished with an impressive 3.37.31. Gary Brock and Janine Grant ran fine marathon debuts to finish in 3.54.43 and 4.35.06.
24 April 2016Colin Tipping revisited childhood haunts with a slightly different outcome in mind when he made the trip to Blackpool to run the Blackpool marathon. Colin put in a top effort to finish in 5.16.58.
24 April 2016Tony Wayte and Alistair Sexton ran the Balmoral 15 mile trail race, on a scenic course round the Balmoral estate. Tony was first Harrier home in 40th position overall and 3rd MV50 in a time of 1.49.50, with Alistair completing the run in 2.46.57.
17 April 201620 or so Harriers plus dogs had a splendid day out in the Trossachs with the awayday run round Loch Venachar and lunch provided by the Brig o'Turk tearooms. Great views along Loch Venachar and beyond to Loch Achray and Loch Drunkie were the rewards for the hard work on the return leg on the north side of the loch.
17 April 2016Club president Gordon Morrison took first MV60 at the Fruehlingslauf 10k in Werl (a small town just east of Dortmund), in a fine time of 45.09, in 16th place overall.
16 April 2016Colin Lamont leads the Harriers home at Norman's Law, Mark Dillon heads the Championship table, and Andy Gallagher moved into third place in the championship.
10 April 2016Mark Dillon and I made the trip to Strathclyde Park for the Tom Scott 10 mile road race. The race was won by Tewodle Mengisteab of Shettleston Harriers in a time of 50.49. Our times were a bit more modest, but we were both very happy with the results. I clocked 68.26, while Mark clocked 79.34. Mark's efforts move him up to 2nd place in the club championship.
10 April 2016Not content with running 21 times round North Inch in Perth a couple of weeks ago, Matt McLay took on the Great Tartan Skidaddle on Saturday April 9. This is a new race on a new long-distance path through the Trossachs from Inversnaid on Loch Lomond to Callander, a total distance of 31 miles. Despite sore feet, Matt completed the route in 6.11.
10 April 2016Andy Aitken had a big 10k pb at the Round the Houses race in Grangemouth, taking 3 minutes off his previous best to finish in 41.41. Also running were Wattie Mackay (1st MV50), Colin Lamont, Ben Murphy and Maddy Watson.
