15 March 2015The dynamic duo of Ruth Howie and Ruth Clark took a last minute decision to enter the D33 ultra marathon as part of their training for the Highland Fling, and completed with a great couple of times. Ruth H finished in a terrific 4.51.08, to take 1st female super vet prize, while Ruth C came in at 5.18.07 as 6th female super vet.
15 March 2015Wendy T led the Harriers home at the Alloa half with a very fine 1.35 to take her to the top of the Championship table. Scott Brown was first man in in 1.36. Top performances all round!
08 March 2015Cracking performances all round from juniors and seniors at the Wee County Gartmorn trail races. Juniors outnumbered the seniors and led the way in a number of the age categories, and for the seniors Wattie was first M50.
08 March 2015Roger Goddard set a new club record for the distance at the Inverness half marathon with a terrific time of 1.17.24, finishing in 24th position in a very high-quality field. Roger now has the best half-marathon and the second best marathon times for Harriers, beating times which have stood since the very early days of the club.
01 March 2015Despite grim weather conditions , we had a good turnout for the first race of the Club Championship on Lady Mary's Walk. Once again, we had strong contributions from the boys from the Development Squad, with Lewis and Duthac leading the way for the Juniors. First home was Wattie, followed by Charlie, with Lewis leading the Juniors charge in 3rd place overall. For the women, Maddy was first home in 21.41, followed by Cathy in 23.26, and Lauren in 29.15.
26 January 2015Another big day for the Harriers at the Devil's Burdens relay was enlivened by some last-minute team changes and perfect weather for the annual romp round the Lomond Hills. Top marks to the men's team for the 15th place finish and to Maddy for her terrific effort running Leg 1 for the women and Leg 4 for the mixed team. Lots of hard work from everyone involved. I'm definitely not doing Leg 2 next year.
03 January 201530 Harriers, in varying states of sobriety and even some without hangovers, and assorted dogs (I think the dogs were mostly sober) assemble at the Royal Hotel in Comrie at the ungodly hour of 9.30 on New Year's Day for the traditional run up to the Melville Monument. The weather was pretty foul, but good cheer was in abundance on the way and mud was plentiful on the way down. Happy New Year!
01 December 2014The final Championship race was the club 5k race on Lady Mary's Walk, on November 2. The men's race was won by Wattie, followed by Nick and Lewis, and the women's race was won by Cathy, followed by Elaine M and Maddy.
01 December 2014Following the final Championship race, the final top three standings in the 2014 club Championship are: Men Wattie Mackay 93.37 points Will Manners 89.36 points Phil Tipping 78.60 points Women Wendy Taylor 83.65 points Nicola Watson 80.24 points Julia Greenlees 75.69 points. So, Wattie and Wendy are 2014 championships, thoroughly deserved. Congratulations to Wattie and Wendy, and many thanks to everyone who participated.
01 October 2014For the 2014 Clyde Stride Ultra Marathon and Relay on September 27, we had a group of brave women taking on the whole 40-mile distance, and a relay team taking on the slightly less daunting relay with legs of about 10 miles each. The relay team of Ruth, Fi, Al and Tony completed the route in 5 hours 16 minutes and finished in 7th place. Wendy (in her first ultra), Nic, Kirsty and Kerry finished in 7 hours 49 minutes, and Susan and Julia followed a few minutes later.
