Harriers at the Highland Fling

27 April 2015

Harriers ladies had a great day out at the 2015 Highland Fling - six starters and six finishers! Ruth H completed the event in a club record time of 11 hours 27 minutes 43 seconds. Ruth Clark was less than 4 minutes behind to finish in 11.31.12, with the two Ruths coming in 5th and 6th in their age category. Wendy and Kirsty finished together in 12.57.15, with Julia and Susan beating their target time to finish in 14.24.08.

Harriers at the London Marathon

Strathearn Harriers had two successful runners at the London Marathon on April 26. Roger Goddard smashed the club marathon record with a terrific time of 2.46.36, and Roger now has the best half marathon and two of the best marathon times for the club. Andy Scott had a very successful run, beating his previous marathon best with a time of 3.47.28, and in doing so has raised a fantastic £2000 for PTSD Resolution.

Round the Houses Jim Dingwall 10k

Three Harriers made the trip to Grangemouth for Scotland's flattest 10k road race. Wattie was 3rd MV50 in 35.53, Sandy was next in 39.38, and Tony struggled in in 41.09.

Birnam Hill race

In a high quality field, Andy Gallagher and Maddy Watson were first men and women home, with solid performances from Jim Alexander, Al Nicholl, Cathy Tilbrook and Helen Barker. Andy G moves to the top of the men's Championship, with Maddy consolidating her position before her summer trip to the other side of the planet.

National Road Relays, Livingston

02 April 2015

A strong Harriers team of Andy Greaves, Chris Clarke and Sandy Storey on the short legs, and Wattie Mackay, Charlie Grimson and Roger Goddard on the longs legs, entered the Scottish National Road Relays, competing against some of Scotland's leading athletes, including Commonwealth Games competitors. The team put in a terrific effort to finish with a final time of 2.41.41, finishing in 26th position.

The Ruths do the D33

The dynamic duo of Ruth Howie and Ruth Clark took a last minute decision to enter the D33 ultra marathon as part of their training for the Highland Fling, and completed with a great couple of times. Ruth H finished in a terrific 4.51.08, to take 1st female super vet prize, while Ruth C came in at 5.18.07 as 6th female super vet.

Alloa half marathon

Wendy T led the Harriers home at the Alloa half with a very fine 1.35 to take her to the top of the Championship table. Scott Brown was first man in in 1.36. Top performances all round!

Gartmorn 6 trail race

08 March 2015

Cracking performances all round from juniors and seniors at the Wee County Gartmorn trail races. Juniors outnumbered the seniors and led the way in a number of the age categories, and for the seniors Wattie was first M50.

New club record at the Inverness half marathon

Roger Goddard set a new club record for the distance at the Inverness half marathon with a terrific time of 1.17.24, finishing in 24th position in a very high-quality field. Roger now has the best half-marathon and the second best marathon times for Harriers, beating times which have stood since the very early days of the club.

Club 5k, March 1

Despite grim weather conditions , we had a good turnout for the first race of the Club Championship on Lady Mary's Walk. Once again, we had strong contributions from the boys from the Development Squad, with Lewis and Duthac leading the way for the Juniors. First home was Wattie, followed by Charlie, with Lewis leading the Juniors charge in 3rd place overall. For the women, Maddy was first home in 21.41, followed by Cathy in 23.26, and Lauren in 29.15.
