Dick Wedlock 10k

Not content with racing at Kinnoull Hill on Thursday, Lauren was back in action on Saturday with Richard Collingwood at the Dick Wedlock 10k in Pollok Park, hosted by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Athletics Club. Richard finished in 44.45, and Lauren scored another new pb of 46.17.

Babcock Dumbarton 10k

Andrew Brown ran the Babcock Dumbarton 10k on Thursday and scored a new 10k pb with a time of 44.43 - lots of hard winter training paying off!

Dumyat hill race

Nick Gough follows up his Stuc a’Chroin efforts with a very fine 41.19, a 2-minute improvement on last year’s time. Mike Thomson was next in with a time of 49.30, not far ahead of Andy Gallagher in 50.03. Lauren Fairweather was our leading woman in a time of 54.45, having a fine race with Lorna Maclarty, who was just 4 seconds back in 54.49, and Keira Reid finished in 1.20.40.

Banjaluka half marathon

In probably the most exotic Harrier event of the year so far, club Welfare Officer Mirela MacInnes ran her first ever half marathon in her home town of Banjaluka, in Bosnia. Conditions sounded tough, with high humidity, but despite that, Mirela was very happy with her time of 2.20.56.

Loch Leven half marathon

Becky Mackenzie and Janine Grant ran the Loch Leven half marathon, surviving swarms of mayflies at the Vane Farm RSPB reserve. Becky finished in 1.56.56, with Janine not far behind in 2.02.50.

Road to the Isles half marathon

Roger Clark, Anne Hartemann and Tony Wayte had a successful trip to Arisaig for the Road to the Isles half marathon. Roger ran an excellent race to finish in 2nd position overall (1st MV40), in a time of 1.18.26. Anne was 8th overall, 2nd woman in a time of 1.29.19, and Tony was 12th (1st MV50) in a time of 1.33.12.

Stuc a'Chroin hill race

Nick Gough and Doug Flint took on the very tough Stuc a' Chroin Hill Race in less than ideal conditions, with near-zero visibility and below-zero windchill at altitude, and conditions underfoot which were variously described as 'slippy', 'treacherous', and challenging’. Nick finished in 3.38.04, with Doug not far behind in 3.45.59.

Tiree 10k and half marathon

In the Tiree 10k, Lynne Aitken reprised her effort from last year in the 10k, and was finished in 55.38.07, finishing as 13th woman. Meanwhile, in the half marathon, Andy Aitken and Neil Scholes finished in 7th and 8th positions, with Andy just sneaking in ahead with a time of 1.34.02, with Neil just a few seconds behind in 8th place in a time of 1:34:06 (1st Senior Male Vet). Beth took 1st Senior Female Vet prize in 1.55.49.

Norman’s Law hill race

Team Gallagher had a successful family outing to Luthrie in Fife for the Norman’s Law and Emily Hill races. Andy and Rachel played championship wildcards and jokers to good effect. Andy finished in 61st place, in a time of 40.21, while Rachel was 102nd overall, 27th woman in a time of 44.26

Stirling half marathon

Five Harriers ran the inaugural Stirling half marathon in what looked like very favourable running conditions for the most part. Jim Alexander was first home, in a time of 1.37.16 (15th MV50), with Susan Sharp next in 1.58.30. Irene Smith was happy to finish her first half marathon in 2.15.03, and Kristiina Fetter and Leeanne Whitelaw ran together and finished in 2.23.46.
