Loch Leven half marathon

Becky Mackenzie and Janine Grant ran the Loch Leven half marathon, surviving swarms of mayflies at the Vane Farm RSPB reserve. Becky finished in 1.56.56, with Janine not far behind in 2.02.50.

Road to the Isles half marathon

Roger Clark, Anne Hartemann and Tony Wayte had a successful trip to Arisaig for the Road to the Isles half marathon. Roger ran an excellent race to finish in 2nd position overall (1st MV40), in a time of 1.18.26. Anne was 8th overall, 2nd woman in a time of 1.29.19, and Tony was 12th (1st MV50) in a time of 1.33.12.

Stuc a'Chroin hill race

Nick Gough and Doug Flint took on the very tough Stuc a' Chroin Hill Race in less than ideal conditions, with near-zero visibility and below-zero windchill at altitude, and conditions underfoot which were variously described as 'slippy', 'treacherous', and challenging’. Nick finished in 3.38.04, with Doug not far behind in 3.45.59.

Tiree 10k and half marathon

In the Tiree 10k, Lynne Aitken reprised her effort from last year in the 10k, and was finished in 55.38.07, finishing as 13th woman. Meanwhile, in the half marathon, Andy Aitken and Neil Scholes finished in 7th and 8th positions, with Andy just sneaking in ahead with a time of 1.34.02, with Neil just a few seconds behind in 8th place in a time of 1:34:06 (1st Senior Male Vet). Beth took 1st Senior Female Vet prize in 1.55.49.

Norman’s Law hill race

Team Gallagher had a successful family outing to Luthrie in Fife for the Norman’s Law and Emily Hill races. Andy and Rachel played championship wildcards and jokers to good effect. Andy finished in 61st place, in a time of 40.21, while Rachel was 102nd overall, 27th woman in a time of 44.26

Stirling half marathon

Five Harriers ran the inaugural Stirling half marathon in what looked like very favourable running conditions for the most part. Jim Alexander was first home, in a time of 1.37.16 (15th MV50), with Susan Sharp next in 1.58.30. Irene Smith was happy to finish her first half marathon in 2.15.03, and Kristiina Fetter and Leeanne Whitelaw ran together and finished in 2.23.46.

Hidden Glen 10k

23 April 2018

Neil Scholes leads the way at the Hideen Glen 10k, to finish in 46.59, 20th overall, 4th MV50. Beckie Mackenzie ran well for her 57.08, just pipping Beth Scholes in 57.35, and Lynne Aitken paced herself well to come in with a time of 59.59.

London Marathon

23 April 2018

Roger Clark leads the way at London with a fine 2.57.28, with Anne Hartmann finishing in 3.13.27. Julia Greenlees finished 51st FV60 in 4.30.59. Andrew Brown took a whopping 22 minutes off his previous marathon best to finish in 4.53.05, and Allan MacInnes, in a flying visit from Albania, overcame a serious training deficit to finish in 5.18.22.

Balfron 10k

23 April 2018

Kristiina Fetter and Leaanne Whitelaw took on the Balfron 10k, with its pleasant downward first 5k and its slightly less pleasant uphill last 10k. Kristiina finished in 63.31 with Leaanne not far behind in 64.13.

Balmoral 15 mile trail race

23 April 2018

Andy Aitken and Tony Wayte had a lively competition at the Balmoral 15 trail race, with Andy finishing the stronger in 1.54.26, while Tony was a minute behind, in 1.55.23 (6th MV50).
