The Lakes in a Day half is a 23 mile run with 850m ascent in the Elglish Lake District, from Ambleside to Cartmel, covering the second half of the full Lakes in a Day ultra. Kay Grenfell took on the challenge and sent this report:
Ran the Lakes in a Day Half today. It was sunny, dry (ish) and had amazing views, but was also very steep in sections and had a bit more road than anticipated. I managed the 23 miles in a time of 4:13mins which I was v Plsd with and finished in 20th place overall, 6th female and 2nd VF50. Was very pleased with my performance and end result. I’d definitely recommend this to others for next year, you might not get the brilliant weather that we had today tho and there were still some sections flooded so my feet got a good wash along the way.
The race was won by Peter Stock in 2.57.57, and the women's race was won by Naomi Tucket in 3.41.11. There were 138 finishers.
