Meall a`Bhuachaille Hill Race

The Meall a`Bhuachaille Hill Race is a classic of the Scottish hill racing calendar. The race route was modified this year due to the high winds and severe wind chill factor in particular, so as to take out the exposed ridge section from Creagan Gorm to Creagowrie summits. Runners still had to ascend to the top of Meall a Bhuachaille itself and continue to the knoll at check point 3, before returning to the bealach (checkpoint 2) and then retracing steps to the finish at Badaguish, so slightly shorter and lower than usual, but there seemed unanimous agreement at the end that this had been a sensible and wise decision.
We had two Harriers take part. Ralph McInally finished in 6th out of 96, in a time of 57:32, and Hanna McInally, whose 1:09:29 gave her 4th female (32nd overall), just 40 seconds behind the podium.
The men's race was won by Tom Harris of Highland Hill Runners in a time of 55.36, and the women's race was won by Sarah Hodgson, also of Highland Hill Runners (well, it is their race!) in a time of 1.03.28.
