Fiona McDonald made her multi-event debut at the East Fife Triathlon Novice Sprint event. The Novice event covers a 400m pool swim, an 11k bike ride and a 2.5k run.
Despite a tumble on the bike leaving transition, Fiona produced an excellent performance to finish 10th overall, 5th woman, with great bike and run legs.
From Fiona: It’s a really well organised event, and I recommend it to anyone thinking about trying a tri. Because it’s a novice event it’s limited to 30 competitors, so not overly daunting from that perspective. I came in 10th (out of 27 finishers), 5th woman, in an overall time of 51:42. No age categories were given. I had an impressive skid and fall at the start of the cycle, but nothing was broken (apart from pride). And yes, I intend to do more.
