Scone Duathlon

Three of the Tuesday Morning Club plus Colin Murchie had a morning out at the Wild Deer Scone Duathlon. Fiona McDonald and Colin took on the Sprint distance event, comprising a 5k run, 19k cycle, finishing with a 2.5k run, while Nicola Watson and Jim McConnell took on the Standard distance event of a 10k run, 38k cycle, finishing with a 5k run.
In the Sprint event, Fiona led Colin by a minute after the first run, but Colin's cycling strength gave him a slight advantage going into the final run. With Colin firmly in her sights after transition, Fiona made up the gap to pass Colin with about 600m to the finish, to give her 7th female finisher, and 1st FVint in a time of 1:26:23. Colin finished just 4 seconds behind in 1:26:27, 11th male and 2nd MVint.
In the Standard event, Nic led Jim throughout the race to finish 3rd woman and 1st FSVet in an outstanding debut time of 2:48:42. Jim finished in 35th position overall, 2nd MVint in 2:53:00.
