Screel Hill race
Race Date: 12 April 2025
For the first of the SHR Championship races, five Harriers made the trip south for the Screel Hill race. This is a short sharp blast up Screel Hill, covering 400m of ascent over a distance of 6.4km.
Best placed Harrier was Harris Pagett in 18th position, 3rd MU23, in a time of 28.29. Next in was Ralph McInally in 24th position (29.25), followed by Jon Turnbull in 27th position (4th M40, 29.57), Calum McBean in 45th position (7th MU23, 33.09). Hanna McInally was our only female runner, finishing 8th woman, in 35.24.
As to be expected with an SHR championship race, the big guns were out and firing, with new course records for winners of the men's and women's race. Sasha Cheplin of Carnethy stormed to victory in 25.43, and Ella Peters took the women's record with a time of 33.17. There were 167 finishers.
