The Ochil 2000s is a classic of the Scottish hill running calendar. As the name suggests, it takes in all 10 of the 2000ft hills in the Ochils, and usually features extensive boggy sections. There is also an evil descent into Menstrie after Colsnaur Hill before heading back up Dumyat before the final dash down into Stirling University.
The race covers 32.7km, with a total ascent of 1650m, with self-navigation required at times. It was a fast race this year, with the men’s, women’s and M70 records all being broken. Two Strathearn Harriers tackled the challenge, with Jon Turnbull finishing in 19th place, in 3.43.58, and with Jim Reid not far behind him, in 3.45.44 for 21st place, out of 88 finishers.
The race was won by Robbie Simpson of Deeside Runners in 2.47.01, and the women's race was won by Catriona Graves of Highland Hill Runners in 3.20.07.
