A healthy gaggle of Harriers made the trip to Kinghorn on Friday evening for the Black Rock 5 race. An unusual event, this starts and finishes in the coastal town of Kinghorn and is a race across the sands to the offshore rocks before returning to a sharp uphill finish. The race is a bit less than 5 miles in distance, but the challenge is largely determined by the state of the tide, the firmness of the sand and the depth of water to be run through. Finishers are rewarded with cans of beer, courtesy of race sponsors William Brothers Brewing.
First Harrier home was Morris Roberts with a chip time of 30.19, in 126th position. Nicola Watson was first female Harrier, in 36.08, 4th FV50. There were strong age category finishes for Fiona McDonald (4th FV60) and Dave Torgersen (3rd MV70).
