The Glas Tulaichean uphill race is a 7k haul starting at the Dalmunzie Hotel at the Spittal of Glenshee, rising 670m to the summit of Glas Tulaichean at a height of 1051m.
Ralph and Hanna McInally were the club's representatives, performing with considerable success. Ralph was 6th overall, finishing in 43.40, and Hanna was 12th overall, 2nd female, in 49.08.
The race was won by Matthew Knowles of Carnethy in 36.57, and the women's race was won by Alice Goodall, also of Carnethy, in 47.04.
From Steve Matthews on the SHR website: Another bright & warm day for this perennially sunny race saw just 34 runners toe the start line for the 670m ascent of Glas Tulaichean. A light breeze chased the pack up with Carnethy’s Matthew Knowles first to reach the summit finish in 36:57, two minutes clear of 2nd placed Cameron Young (Shettleston) and Tom Cunningham of Corstorphine in 3rd.
First female to cross the tape was Alice Goodall in 47:04 to make the double for Carnethy, followed by Hanna McInally of Strathearn and Ochil’s Alison Smithard. In glorious conditions most runners lingered for a while on top before the jog back down to the farm for tea and prizes.
Our thanks as ever to Dalmunzie Estate for continuing to support this event & especially to all the volunteers for making it run so smoothly: summit timekeepers, registration & all the folk involved in making the teas, sandwiches & cakes that were demolished afterwards. And thanks too to all the runners for coming along & rewarding their efforts.
