This from Phil Mestecky: Harris Pagett travelled South to the English capital (courtesy of New Balance shoes) to test himself on the tarmac rather than his more familiar hilly terrain. Showing exceptional grit and determination, he smashed his PB by over 4 minutes to record a staggering time of exactly 68 minutes. For the avoidance of doubt that is 5 mins 11 secs per mile for 13.1 miles or, if you prefer, 3.14 per kilometre…just let that sink in for a minute!
Harris's time is a new club record for the distance.
And to think, I was once happy to run 10 mile in 68 minutes ...
Harris finished in 16th position, mixing it with some very illustrious company. The winner, Jack Rowe, is a British international, and finished in a time of 64.08.
