La Plangee 6D Marathon

Many thanks to Jonathon Marks for the following race report: Lindsay Marks and I took part in races at La 6000D trail running event at La Plagne this week. Conditions were hot on both days with a requirement to carry 2 litres of water and the start times moved earlier due to an orange weather warning. Lindsay ran La Cretes, a 21km race with 1350m of ascent, over some of the ridges around La Plagne. Lift access up high meant great crowds cheering racers on the final climb. She finished 35th female and 250th from the 800 starters in 3 hours 20 mins.  

I took part in La 6D Marathon which started at the valley floor before climbing past La Plagne. With a total of 2100m ascent, most of it in one go, it was hard going in the heat but I was happy to finish in 4h45m, 45th male, and 51st from the 1000 starters. Highlights included running up a bobsleigh track and running through some lovely shady forest. 

Both of us appreciated family support along the way. More hills reps are definitely required before any further alps races!”
