Thanks to Peter Banks for the following race report: John Myles and I ran this "pancake flat" and "super fast" route. We both decided that this race description was from someone who hasn't read either of those definitions, or perhaps they live in the Alps! Despite that, it was a really pretty and varied route. Running from the race course, up and over the new bridge, down the Tay into the city, a quick circuit over the old bridges (not flat!) and then back up the inch retracing our steps back up to the race course.
The sun and lack of any breeze certainly impacted both of us and I have no idea what liquid was being served at the end, but the ginger concoction certainly helped refresh me a little as we baked by the finish line! Our air con was very much appreciated!
A big group of runners with 518 finishers and some super fast times including first half marathon timer and winner Iain Jordan (Central AC) in 1:12:51 who was around 6 mins ahead of the second place; thereby ruining my joker entry prospects! :-)
1:41:12 for me (71st) and 1:58:11 for John (211th). I think we both just missed our target times, but in that heat with quite a lot more uphill than we expected, it was definitely a good effort. I was pleased to get a shot at my joker for the championship and I'll try and better my PB there next year as I certainly enjoyed the fabulous atmosphere.
