Strathearn Harriers - New Year's Day Run 2014

Tom Na Bat Hill Race

Race Date: 18 July 2026

The Tom na Bat Hill Race is a 5.6 km (3.5 miles) traditional Scottish hill race in the Cairngorms, featuring around 340m ascent. Many thanks to Janine Grant for the following report: Harriers in action this afternoon at the Tom na Bat Hill Race as part of the Tomintoul Highland Games. 128 runners took on the challenge in a very competitive race with first place going to James Espie [a second claim Harrier!] who set a new course record by over 2 minutes in a time of 25.44 and Central runner Jamie Crowe following in 2nd place. The first 5 runners all beat the previous course record of 28:14 minutes which had stood since 2010.

Well done to Hanna McInally who was the First Lady home (19th place overall) in 32.18 minutes. Jon Turnbull was 3rd M40-59 (14th place overall) in 31.07 minutes. Andrew Grant was 10th overall in 30.50 minutes - more than 5 minutes faster than last year. Ralph McInally was also in action as a guide assisting another runner to complete the course.
