Birnam Hill Classic
Race Date: 28 March 2026
The third race in our club championship, the Birnam Hill Classic features a steep pull up and a fast descent, finishing with a 'when is it ever going to end' mile beside the main railway line. Many thanks to Monica Thomson for the following race report: 16 of us took part in the annual uphill and relentless scramble of a local hill race. Flurries of snow flakes on the summit with an icy wind didn't prevent a new course record being set of 27mins 26 seconds. Our own members claimed some podium places - Hanna as 2nd Female, Angela as 1st FV40 (chip time) but 2nd on the race gun time (by 1 second only), Ollie (Jnr) as 1st U18M, Dave T as 2nd MV70.

The men's race was won by Matt Knowles of Carnethy in a new course record of 27.26, and the women's race was won by Emily Atkinson of Haddington Running Club in 35.54. There were 137 finishers.
